Why We Use It and Our Legal Basis
| Purpose | Legal basis under GDPR Article 6 |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry | Steps you ask for before a contract (6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interests (6(1)(f)) |
| Providing our services | Performance of a contract (6(1)(b)) |
| Invoices, accounts and tax records | Legal obligation (6(1)(c)) |
| Keeping the website secure and stopping spam | Our legitimate interests (6(1)(f)) |
| Loading Google Maps | Your consent (6(1)(a)) |
Our legitimate interests are answering messages, running our business and protecting this website. We have weighed them against your rights, and you can object at any time.
We don’t make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we don’t profile you.
Do You Have to Give Us Your Data?
No. However, we need your name and email address to reply, and we need some details to provide a service or issue an invoice.
Who We Share It With
We never sell your data. We share it only where needed:
- Hosting provider: stores this website and the form messages.
- Email provider: delivers and stores our email.
- WhatsApp (Meta): only if you choose to message us there.
- Google: only if you allow maps, and only what Google collects itself when a map loads.
- Professional advisers: such as an accountant, where needed.
- Authorities: where Irish or EU law requires it.
Providers that handle data for us may use it only to provide their service to us.
International Transfers
Our founder works from India, so we access and use your data from India. The European Commission hasn’t issued an adequacy decision for India, so Indian law isn’t formally recognised as giving the same protection as EU law. We apply the GDPR to all the personal data we handle, wherever we access it.
Where one of our providers transfers data outside the European Economic Area, it must use a safeguard recognised under the GDPR, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.
How Long We Keep It
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t lead to work | Up to 12 months after our last contact |
| Client records and correspondence | While we work together, then up to 6 years |
| Invoices and accounting records | 6 years, to meet tax and accounting rules |
| Hashed IP address for spam protection | 1 hour |
| Your cookie choice | 6 months, then we ask again |
| Server logs | As set by our hosting provider |
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of your personal data
- Correct data that is wrong or incomplete
- Delete your data
- Restrict how we use it
- Send it to you or another organisation in a usable format
You can also object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests, and withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To make a request, email nissa@seocompanydublin.com or use our contact form. We reply within one month. For complex requests we may need up to two more months, and we’ll tell you if so. Requests are usually free, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first.
How to Complain
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland’s data protection authority, or to the authority in the EU country where you live or work.
Children
Our website and services are for businesses. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16, the digital age of consent in Ireland.
Marketing
We don’t send marketing emails. If we ever offer a newsletter, we will ask for your consent first, and every email will include a way to unsubscribe.
Links to Other Websites
Our pages link to other websites, such as Google’s documentation. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.
Changes to This Policy
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects you significantly, we’ll tell you where we can.
